I had high hopes for this hotel. The reviews were good and the pictures looked great. Alas it was meh. I stayed in the Ontario Suite. It was well layed out. The bathroom has a large show and huge bath. The lighting was so dim however that it was hard to see in the mirror. The sitting area was a nice size and the couch was comfortable. The desk and dresser was all banged up and scuffed. The tv in the sitting area was tiny and did swivel or pull off the wall. The view was of an apartment building across the street. Not worth the upgrade to the Ontario Suite. The hotel itself needs a little TLC. It was ok, but I probably would not stay there again.

Don't be fooled - this is NOT a luxury hotel. Booked this hotel for a long-weekend getaway with my wife based on the great reviews, but was left extremely disappointed. Other than a good location easily walkable to restaurants/attractions, I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. Issues we encountered during our 3-night stay: * Room was not exactly clean when we arrived. Had to ask housekeeping to mop the floors while out our first day. * Room furnishing were cheap and shabby. The carpet under the bed in our King Suite room had so many stains, it looked like a frat house item. * Ordered appetizers from room service our first night before going out. Food arrived and was inedible. Meat on the circuitry plate was rancid/rotten and the cheese was warm (not in a good way). Sent the food back, asked for a refund, but was still charged on check-out. * Mattress was terrible. My wife almost slept on the couch our last nigh it was so uncomfortable. * There is no ice machine in the hotel. Anytime you want ice, you have to go to the lobby (they will not deliver it to your room) and ask the front desk for a bag of ice. A real hassle, and the staff looked annoyed almost every time I asked for ice. * The hotel appears to be very understaffed. Only one person at the front desk. No bellhop or valet. Lobby bar was empty and unstaffed. Employees were not rude, but seemed annoyed like we were bothering them. For the price, I'm sure there are far better options in the area. Avoid at all costs.

This is one of my go to hotels when I am in Chicago (the other is The London House). The rooms are spacious and the eds so comfortable that I sleep well every time. The bathroom has deep a deep bath tub and a shower with amazing water pressure. The staff is always warm and welcoming. On this trip my receipt reflected a charge both for the bar and a water from the mini bar. How does one prove a negative? I did not access the mini bar at all and did not order anything from the bar. The hotel did not respond to my communications but did refund the bar charge. It refuses to reverse the water charge. Listen, it is not a lot of money but now I am re-thinking ever staying here again. More my loss than theirs, just check your bill before you leave.

Another year, another delightful holiday season spent at Ivy Hotel! Staying at Ivy Hotel in Chicago has become a cherished tradition for me, largely due to the exceptional level of customer service they consistently provide. Before my arrival, I had informed the hotel team about my late-night red-eye flight and my concerns about getting enough sleep. I also politely requested an early check-in if it were possible. True to form, when I arrived at the hotel early in the morning, my room was not only ready but also accompanied by a delightful surprise. The welcoming gesture included an enticing assortment of chocolates and a sumptuous charcuterie board, complete with bottles of water and wine, as well as a well-stocked fridge with a variety of refreshing beverages. After indulging in some of these treats, I decided to take a refreshing shower and grab a few hours of sleep before embarking on a day of exploration in the Windy City. My sister-in-law and I ventured out into the city on a brisk 40°F day, making the most of the holiday spirit. We strolled along the Miracle Mile, immersed ourselves in the festive atmosphere of the Christkindlmarket, attended a mesmerizing Nutcracker ballet performance, and even enjoyed some seasonal drinks. Needless to say, our day was filled with countless steps and memorable experiences. As we began to get chilly, we both agreed that it was time to return to the comfort of Ivy Hotel. Back at the hotel, we embraced the cozy ambience by slipping into the plush robes and slippers that were thoughtfully provided. We treated ourselves to facials with face masks, opened another bottle of wine, and retrieved the chocolates and charcuterie board we had stashed in the fridge earlier. Nestled in our comfortable beds, we indulged in classic Christmas movies, creating cherished memories that will last a lifetime. Throughout our stay, the hotel staff consistently greeted us with warmth and professionalism every time we entered or exited the premises, always ready to assist if we needed anything. Ivy Hotel has truly become a second home for me – a place where I am welcomed like family. This year's experience was yet another reminder of why I keep coming back to this wonderful establishment. I cannot recommend Ivy Hotel enough to anyone seeking a memorable and heartwarming stay in Chicago during the holiday season. Thank you once again for making my visit so special.
